DAPPCON24: Intents and the Future of DeFi

May 15, 2024

Tigran Bolshoi, the co-founder of Kinetex, will take the stage at the DAPPCON24 conference on Tuesday, 21st of May, to talk about his take on the future of DeFi.

In his presentation, he will focus on the transformation of the Internet that is happening today. One can think of the Internet as a vast knowledge repository, much like an encyclopedia. To find information on a specific topic, individuals typically rely on search engines like Google. They must enter their query accurately and then sift through numerous sources in search of the required information. Returning to the encyclopedia analogy, the search process often involves scanning a table of contents, reading chapters thoroughly, and analyzing various sources to locate the necessary information.

Indeed, various virtual assistants, like Siri, chatbots, and others, have appeared on the market to make interactions with the Internet more efficient and productive. However, the lack of standardization and broad applicability means that interacting with them often does not deliver sufficient accuracy and reliability or is merely impossible.

This is where the concept of intent comes into play, working as a linking agent between humans and tools powered by artificial intelligence (AI). Intents serve as a standardized way to structure requests and validate responses for both users and AI agents. At the same time, AI agents operate across diverse domains, analyzing data, formulating responses to queries, and seeking clarification from each other to ensure accurate information exchange.

Another critical component of the future Internet is Zero-knowledge technology (ZK). It enables users or projects to generate requests and validate responses while upholding the necessary standards of privacy and confidentiality. Ensured privacy is a pressing topic among crypto users worried about the security of their data shared with various apps and platforms. The use of ZK-based solutions will help guarantee that interactions within the DeFi space (and hopefully beyond after some time) will be secure and confidential if required.

Blockchain technology also has much more potential in various industries beyond crypto. In a blockchain, all participants interact in a decentralized manner without relying on a single point of trust. All requests and responses, along with evidence of said responses, are immutable and transparent while still maintaining the participants' privacy. Therefore, this technology ensures that transactions and data cannot be altered or tampered with, providing high security and confidence in the safety of digital interactions.

The last aspect Bolshoi will touch upon is modularity. It offers the advantage of adaptability in implementation and enables future scalability through the decentralized and autonomous development of separate components and systems. Consequently, modularity facilitates innovations and further development, empowering builders to create solutions that can work with and enhance each other.
